Match Adjustment Policy

Since the promise of Breeze is to meet face-to-face after a Match, cancelling Dates is generally not allowed without consequences.

This policy (“Match Adjustment Policy”) outlines the rules and consequences of cancelling and/or rescheduling dates. This Match Adjustment Policy supplements and is part of all our User Terms (breeze.social/terms-conditions).

A. The process from Match to Date

The following five steps outline how a Match leads to a Date:

  1. When you have a Match, you will be asked to pay for the Date using a Date Token and indicate your availability in the App. By paying using a Date Token and indicating your availability, you confirm that you will be available for a Date on that moment and that we can arrange the Date if your availability matches the availability of your Match.

  2. If your availability does not match the availability of your Match, we’ll continuously request the User with the oldest availability to provide additional availability until there is a matching availability.

  3. Once we have a matching availability from both Users, the Date is set and we’ll arrange a suitable Date Venue based on both Users’ provided addresses.

  4. You will be asked to confirm your presence at the Date and the selected Date Location within 30 (thirty) hours before the Date, and ultimately 4 (four) hours before the Date. We will communicate whether a reservation is made and provide the address of the selected Date Location.

  5. If both Users confirm the Date, a chat opens 4 (four) hours before the Date to coordinate last-minute logistics.

Canceling the date at any point from the moment the Match is created in any of the ways described in sections B1-7 will result in the consequences described in sections C and D.

B. Situations and rules for (re-)scheduling and cancelling

Below, we describe the situations in which we, you, or your Match can reschedule or cancel the Date:

  1. If you or your Match do not respond by paying and/or providing their availability for 3 days (steps A.1 and A.2 above), we will cancel the Date on your/their behalf so the other is not left waiting.

  2. If you wish to cancel the Date before it is set (steps A.1 and A.2 above), you can do so via the “edit” button of the Match. We expect you to have and provide the other User with a reasonable explanation to cancel.

  3. If you wish to adjust the day or time of the Date after the Date is set (step A.3 or A.4 above), you can do so via the “edit” button of the Match until 4 hours before the Date. To adjust the day or time of the Date, we expect you to have and provide the other User with a reasonable explanation.

When you propose a new time, you indicate whether it is a preference or a necessity; a new day (replan) is always treated as a necessity. If your Match declines a preference, the Date stays at its original time. The rules below apply to a necessary time change and to a replan:

    • a. If you adjust the day or time of the Date within 24 hours of the Date occurring, your Match will have the option to decline. If they do, the Date is cancelled and counts as a cancellation by you.

    • b. If you adjust the day or time of the Date two or more times for the same Match, your Match will have the option to decline. If they do, the Date is cancelled and counts as a cancellation by you.

    • c. If you or your Match has requested a time or day change, the other has 3 days (72 hours) to respond. If they do not, we cancel the Date on that User’s behalf so the other is not left waiting. This counts as a cancellation by whoever did not respond.

  4. If you wish to cancel the Date after it is set (steps A.3 and A.4 above), you can do so via the “edit” button of the Match until 4 hours before the Date. We expect you to have and provide the other User with a reasonable explanation to cancel.

  5. If you or your Match do not confirm presence at the Date within the time frame described in step A.4 above, we cancel the Date on that User’s behalf, so the other does not travel to the Date Location for a Date that will not happen. This counts as a cancellation by whoever did not confirm, or by both of you if neither did.

  6. If you or your Match’s account is banned for serious violations per our User Guidelines, we will inform the other User and cancel the Date on your/their behalf.

  7. If you delete or your Match deletes their account, in any of the steps above, we inform the other User directly and cancel the Date on behalf of the User who deleted their account.

  8. Once both Users confirm the Date (step A.4 above), it cannot be cancelled and both are expected to be at the Date Location at the scheduled time. If you wish to change the time, day, or location of the Date, you need to clearly agree with your Match via the chat (step A.5 above). If we made a reservation, it is your responsibility to contact the Date Venue directly (via our App) to inform them of changes to the reservation.

  9. Please note that we may change the Date Location at any time at our sole discretion. We will notify you well in advance, or as soon as reasonably possible, of these changes. If no other Date Location for the same type of Date is possible, we will try to provide an alternative option, such as offer to organize the Date on a different date or changing the Date type/activity.

  10. After the Date, you will be asked for feedback on the Match and the Date Location. The Match feedback will not be shared with your Match, but the Date Location feedback will be shared with the Date Location. If you had issues with the reservation or with your Match showing up, you can let us know afterward via the feedback form in the App. Depending on the circumstances, we may still cancel the Date on the other’s behalf.

C. Date Token refund policy for canceling the Date

The policy for getting your Date Token back to your Wallet, if you already paid using a Date Token, is as follows:

  1. If the Date was never set, regardless of who cancels or does not respond, both Users get their Date Token back (situations B.1 and B.2 above).

  2. If you cancel the Date after the Date had once been set (situation B.4 above), you do not get your Date Token back. The other User does get their token back.

  3. If the Date was cancelled and counted as your cancellation after the Date had once been set (situations B.3.a, B.3.b, B.3.c, B.5 and B.7 above), you do not get your Date Token back. The other User does get their Date Token back, unless the Date also counted as their cancellation.

  4. If a User gets banned from Breeze’s Services and therefore we need to cancel the Match, both Users get their Date Token back (situation B.6 above).

  5. Once the match chat has opened, our service has been delivered. The chat opens 4 (four) hours before the Date, or earlier if we open it sooner, and only once both Users have confirmed their presence — by that point we have found your Match, arranged the Date and reserved the Date Location. Your Date Token has been used and is not returned.

  6. If you and your Match then agree something else between yourselves, neither of you gets a Date Token back. This covers anything you arrange in the chat in place of the Date we set up: rescheduling it yourselves, changing the plan, or simply exchanging phone numbers or other contact details to carry on outside the App. Once you take the Date into your own hands it is no longer ours to refund.

  7. We do still return the Date Token to the affected User in two cases:

    • one User one-sidedly proposes cancelling or changing the Date in the chat, and no contact details have been exchanged;
    • one User does not turn up at the Date.

In both cases the User who cancelled or did not turn up does not get their Date Token back. Report it in the App after the Date (situation B.10 above).

  8. Sections C.5 to C.7 do not apply where the Date did not take place because of us or the Date Location — for example the Date Venue was closed, no reservation had been made, or the App prevented you from attending. Report it in the App after the Date (situation B.10 above) and we will consider returning your Date Token.

D. Freeze and ban policy for canceling a date

  1. If the Date was cancelled and counted as your cancellation as described in sections B1-7, your account may be frozen for a duration proportional to the ratio of dates you have cancelled to dates you have attended. You will be informed of the duration of your freeze before cancelling the date.

  2. If you cancel extremely frequently and/or have a very high cancel-to-date ratio, we may, at our sole discretion, after a one-time warning, permanently block your account.

  3. If you fail to show up at the Date Location without informing the Date Location and/or cancel the reservation in violation of this Match Adjustment Policy, your account may be temporarily suspended.

E. Other important notes

  1. If a Match has been canceled once, you can reactivate it; this requires a new Date Token, even if you lost a Date Token due to a previous cancellation. The same refund policy applies to the reactivated Match.

  2. Attempting to bypass our Services, such as sharing contact information when sending adjustments to a Date, such as a cancellation or change to the time, day, or location of the Date, is prohibited. We may, at our sole discretion, after a one-time warning, block your Account (temporarily) for this. In such cases, we reserve the right not to provide any Date Token if the Date does not take place.

  3. If you want your Date Token reimbursed to your bank account, please check the eligibility per our Terms (see Article 5 Date Tokens).
